Dragonfly Art Studio's innovative, interdisciplinary summer art camp focuses on visual art skills, with music, art history, local experts, and much more included.
Each week-long camp has a specific genre or historic theme with some weeks having a skilled expert who will present their knowledge and expertise to the artists. Camps include: Photography, Comics, Sewing, miniature magic and much more!
Each week-long camp culminates in an individual, participant-presentation on the last day that develops vital public speaking and communication skills. Artists present their pieces with explanations, including what they have learned through artistic triumphs and challenges.

Summer Camp Details
Please read the following carefully before registering your child.
HOURS: 9:00- 4:00: DROP OFF BETWEEN 9-10 AM - Pick up between 3-4 PM, Monday-Friday (before and aftercare available at $10/hour: 8-9 AM & 4-5 PM PLEASE CALL to Let me know what hours you need care for your child so I can plan ahead 505-670-5019)
If you child is sick, please keep them at home.
All summer camp classes will be held at Dragonfly Art Studio located at 1513 Third Street.
Kids must bring healthy snacks, water, and lunch. We may go on short walks and play outdoor games to break up the day so please pack sunscreen, hats, a water bottle, and appropriate shoes.
Your child should wear clothing that is appropriate for getting messy !
Please label all of your child’s belongings. We can not return lost items without labels.
Cost
$285.00 per week plus a $95 material fee plus NM tax. For the special weeks 3,4,5 and 10 the cost is $305.00 plus a $105.00 Material Fee plus NM tax.
Space is limited. A non-refundable deposit of $100 plus tax for each week is due upon registration. Your child will only be officially registered when the deposit is received.
Full payment is due at least two weeks prior to the start date. (There will be a charge of $25.00 if the full tuition has not been paid at least 2 weeks before each weekly camp session starts.)

For the Before Care sessions (8:00-9:00) or the After Care sessions (4:00-5:00) PLEASE enter the Dates and the session on the registration form (the line after the emergency contact cell phone line). You can prepay for this service at the bottom of this page.
A refund of the balance will be given if we are notified at least two weeks before the start of that week of camp and the spot can be filled. (NOTE: the refund total is minus the processing fee)
NO refunds will be given if the child is sick or is taken to other activities.
If your child disrupts the camp by not following directions or is disrespectful to our teachers or other campers or misbehaves in any way, the child will not be able to attend our camp for the current or future weeks. All funds paid will not be refunded.

You may register and make a payment online through our secure site. If you register online, you will need to register for each week of camp, unless you want to enroll for the entire twelve weeks of camp ( the last week is optional)— there is an option for that at the bottom of the page. Under payment options, please choose either the $100 deposit or the full payment for the week, ( there is an option : Balance after deposit for you to pay at least 2 weeks before the session starts) then click Add to Cart. (The cart is on the top right of the page)

At checkout, you will be asked to fill out our online registration form, If you do not receive a confirmation email, then your payment did not go through and we will not know that you registered. Note that it may take a few days for the confirmation to get sent to the Email you paid with.

Sculpt, Build and Invent!
Artists become inventive builders, exploring how art and engineering work together. Campers will discover new materials and processes while working with wood, plaster, wire, papier-mâché, cardboard, fabric, found objects, paper, or stone. Using a variety of techniques, we’ll transform everyday materials into one-of-a-kind sculptures, Along the way, artists will experiment with structure, balance, and simple mechanisms as they design and build. Inspired by both classical and contemporary sculpture, students will explore texture, color, and form learning how to move from an initial idea to a finished 3D artwork.

June 1- June 5, 2026
POW! BAM! Create your own Comic World!
Comic Creators Summer Camp invites young artists to discover the fascinating history and art of comics in a fun, hands-on environment. Campers will explore how visual storytelling has evolved from ancient Egyptian and Greek drawings with script, to Sunday newspaper funnies, to contemporary comic strips and graphic novels. They will learn from special guest artist Anand Duncan, DC Comics Teen Titans Go! animator, as they design and draw their own classic-style comics. Throughout the camp, Comic Creators will make self-portraits, trading cards, comic books, graphic novel storyboards, and flip books that tell stories through moving images. While working on these projects, campers will build strong art fundamentals, including shading and light source, texture, perspective, and visual storytelling through storyboards. By the end of the session, each student will have a mini portfolio of their own comic creations and a deeper understanding of how comics combine art and story to captivate readers of all ages.

All skill levels welcome boys and girls Ready to design, create, and sew it up? In this fun, hands-on sewing camp, artists will: Learn to use a sewing machine with confidence Practice hand sewing, pressing, and seam allowance Try pattern reading and simple pattern making Install zippers and buttonholes Explore different fabrics and how to work with them Campers will design and sew their own projects like cloth bags, skirts, pants, dresses, and pajamas. New to sewing? We’ll start with the basics. Been here before? You’ll level up your skills and tackle more ambitious projects. Leave camp with new friends, new skills, and awesome “I made it myself!” creations.

Lens & Light: Old‑School Photo Magic
Capture summer through fun photo assignments using a pinhole camera, learning how light and subject matter shape every picture. Explore sun‑printed cyanotypes and rayographs, darkroom printing, paper negatives, and real film photography while discovering the history of images from the very beginning, guided by guest artist and photographer Gabriel Holton

The Great Game and Toy Make Off!
Artists dive into the colorful world of toy and game making in this hands-on arts-and-crafts camp. Campers will: Explore the history of toys and games through fun, activities Work daily with guest toy & game inventor Laurie Peterson in the studio Invent and design their own card game, from rules to artwork Use wood, fabric, and clay to create additional toys and game pieces By week’s end, each child will take home a custom card game and handmade toys and select games will have the exciting chance to be submitted to a kids’ invention program, where they could even be chosen for production.

Carpathian creators, Dracula and the magic makers
A Mysterious art camp inspired by the moonlit castles, dark forests, and the legends of Dracula's Transylvania, and my recent trip to Romania. Artists will explore needle felting, clay, wood, embroidery, knitting, and character drawing as they create gothic castles, shadowy creatures, and storybook heroes. Each day waves hauntingly beautiful tales with hands- on projects, inviting young artists to step into a world of magic, mystery, and imagination.

Miniature Magic
Shrink your imagination and bring tiny worlds to life! Artists will dream up and design tiny creatures, build magical miniature worlds and habitats, sculpt adorable mini clay foods, create teeny-tiny jewelry you can actually wear, make mini books you can hold in one hand, and paint mini masterpieces with giant creativity. Campers will draw, sculpt, and build their own little lands, rooms, and secret hideouts. Using clay, beads, and all kinds of awesome recycled treasures, they’ll turn small ideas into huge adventures. Think small, dream HUGE, and create a tiny world full of BIG imagination!

Wild Wings: Artistic Ornithologist
Wild wings blends science, nature, and art. visited daily by renowned ornithologist Lenny Gannes, campers will explore the amazing world of birds from familiar backyard visitors to rare and endangered species from around the globe. Through engaging, aactivities artists will discover how birds live, migrate, build nests, and communicate, while also learning how scientists study and protect them. Each day combines hands-on bird discovery with creative “airy art” projects inspired by what they learn, including colorful bird masks, handcrafted nests from natural materials, clay birds and eggs, and vibrant drawings and paintings . By the end of the session, campers will take home a collection of original artwork and a deeper appreciation for the feathered friends that share our world.

Street Beats & Brush Strokes
A high-energy summer art camp where kids dive into the colorful world of street art! All week long, campers will help paint a collaborative mural, explore bold street art styles, and turn their own ideas into one-of-a-kind wearable art, like custom shoes, jean jackets, T-shirts, hats, and more. They’ll also create clay creatures, paint on vinyl record albums, and make art to the rhythm of the music. Along the way, campers will discover how street art connects to culture and community, and they’ll get inspired by a visiting local street artist and possibly even a live DJ in the studio. Get ready to paint big, think bold, and let your creativity take over the streets!

Raised & Amazed: The art of Embossing
Spend a week exploring the awesome, hands-on world of embossing! In this high-energy art camp, kids will press, stamp, carve, and even burn their own designs into leather, paper, wood, clay, metal, and more. Young artists will play with cool tools and textures to create raised designs they can actually feel, and they’ll take home beautiful, touchable art that really makes a mark. During the week, guest artist Scott Horn will pop into the studio for a special day of leather embossing, sharing pro tricks and helping kids create amazing embossed pieces.

Best of the Best Summer Sampler
NOTE: Public Schools will be in session this week!
This special final week of our Best of the Best Summer Sampler Camp, campers will get to experience a little bit of everything from the previous 11 weeks! Throughout the week, they’ll create a variety of projects inspired by our most popular activities, including photography, sewing, miniature arts, Carpathian creators, and Street Arts. Campers will try out the “top pick” projects from each theme, giving them a chance to explore different art forms, develop new skills, and discover what they enjoy most-all in one exciting week. Join us for a creative, hands-on week that highlights the very best of our summer camp!

Join us for a summer to remember and learn skills for a lifetime! Your child will be exposed to mediums and materials from around the world and learn new skills ranging from painting and illustration to forming three-dimensional sculptures to exploring their creative minds through Mythology and Fantasy. (the 12th week is optional because of Public school starting)
